Lindsay Brown

Lindsay Brown is a writer, designer and 4th generation Vancouverite. She is currently writing a book on Vancouver’s Habitat Forum of 1976, a major civic event that brought Mother Teresa, Margaret Mead, Buckminster Fuller, Maggie and Pierre Trudeau, Paolo Soleri, Barbara Ward and many others to Vancouver to talk about sustainable, equitable cities http://habitat76.ca. Brown owns and is principal designer of Ouno Design in Vancouver, an artisanal textile-based sustainable design firm. She has a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (photography and installation art) and an MA in Communication from Simon Fraser University. Brown is involved in civic and arts advocacy; she is founder of Stop BC Arts Cuts, co-founder of the Vancouver Not Vegas Coalition to stop a megacasino in Vancouver, and board president of the Or Gallery, a non-profit artist-run centre in Vancouver’s historic DelMar Hotel.
